A pop music radio show for people who already know plenty about pop music, hosted by Ron "Boogiemonster" Gerber and heard every Friday night from 10:30 to midnight on KFAI-FM, 90.3 FM Minneapolis, 106.7 FM St. Paul, and KFAI.org.
The premise for tonight's show, with former Radio Rumpus Room hosts Ron and Jean sitting in for Ron G.:
Replicated verbatim (with varying degrees of success) was a Sept. 9, 1987 radio aircheck of "I Found Buddy Holly's Glasses," a college radio show originally broadcast from the campus of the University of Okoboji, located on the shores of scenic Lake Okoboji in northwestern Iowa. The original cassette was recently scrounged from under the front seat of a '75 Ford Maverick sitting in Lem's Auto Recyclers in Doon, Iowa. With the actual oxide-flaking, former-answering-machine-sourced C-90 cassette tape too far gone to play on-air, the RRR crew faithfully duplicated, with between-songs chatter and music, this time capsule of college rock as it was heard on KBOJ (kah BOJ) in the waning years of the Reagan presidency.
This historical reenactment was a little messy, but to be honest, so is history.
P.S. Go Bullheads!
